Are you being harassed by debt collectors?
Does this sound like you?
- “Debt collectors won’t stop calling me.”
- “I’m being sued by a debt collector.”
- “I don’t have the money to pay. Why won’t they listen?”
Are you being harassed by debt collectors? Know your rights!
A debt collector can’t
- Harass you, your family, or your neighbors
- Threaten to ruin your credit
- Use obscene, abusive, or profane language
- Threaten to take your paycheck or other income
- Call repeatedly, and/or before 8am and after 9pm
- Threaten to take you to court or have you thrown in jail
- Collect on a debt that has been discharged in bankruptcy
- Threaten to cause you to lose your job
- Threaten to take your car or other property as payment
- Keep contacting you when you’ve asked them not to
- Ask for more money than you owe
- Treat you unfairly in any other way
It costs nothing to sue a debt collector for harassment.
- “Stop debt collection harassment.”
- “Get a debt collection judgment against you reversed.”
- “Reduce or eliminate your debt – we’ll negotiate for you.”
- “Receive monetary damages.”
- “Clean up your credit report.”
